So you want to make a video to support a new product, program or campaign? Video marketing can be the most effective way to reach your audience. According to Business Insider, the number of people watching videos online reached 244.4 million in 2020 and is only going up from there. When it comes to marketing, 58 percent of customers say they would love more video marketing from companies and brands they support. Also, 73 percent of consumers say they have been influenced by video marketing that they watched on social media.
One of the first steps to creating a great marketing video is writing an effective script. We get it. Scriptwriting can be intimidating. Especially if you are new to video marketing. While many adults have been schooled in writing, script writing is a different skill altogether. Poor script writing can make videos appear awkward, tedious, or unnatural. You can have the best lighting, graphics, and talent in the world, but if the script is not up to par, your video will underperform.
Fortunately, video script writing is not hard once you understand some basic tenets and gain some practice. Based on our years of experience, we’ve created this document to get you started. This guide will help you identify your target audience so you know how to connect with them. Through reflection and brainstorming, be prepared to articulate the customer pain points your product addresses. This information will allow your narrator to provide solutions that are relevant and insightful. Lastly, you’ll be challenged to clarify your core messaging. This important step will ensure that your content is memorable and actionable.
