At vLink, building long-term relationships with clients is a cornerstone of our success, and OnConvergence is one of the most valued partnerships we have cultivated. Led by Tom Brannen, an industry expert in unified communications and telecommunications, OnConvergence  is a modern industry analyst firm that seeks to bridge the gap between solution providers and customers by leveraging decades of consulting experience to help share education and thought leadership on innovative and emerging technologies.

Tom, a dear friend of mine for over 25 years, has always understood the power of video as a communication tool. In recent years, we’ve had the privilege of helping him develop a series of videos and podcasts, featuring both his own insights and those of his clients. These videos are incredibly powerful in presenting his expertise and giving his clients a platform to reach a wider audience.

Tom has a natural ability to foster conversations that are insightful and engaging, and we help bring that to life by providing high-quality, efficient production services to his message. This recent project, an interview for one of Tom’s major clients, is a perfect example of how we worked together to achieve this goal. Like many of Tom’s collaborations, the client was located remotely, in New York, while Tom was in our studio. The challenge was to make the conversation feel natural and engaging, despite the physical distance. Here’s how we achieved that:

  • We positioned Tom in front of our green cyc wall, which allows us to placed him in any environment during post-production.
  • The client, Tom’s remote guest from New York, joined via a video call, and we projected their feed onto a Google Smartboard. This gave the appearance that the client was virtually present with Tom in the studio, allowing the conversation to flow naturally.
  • After recording, our post-production team composited Tom into a realistic virtual environment designed specifically for this interview.

The combination of these techniques resulted in a polished, professional conversation that bridged the physical gap between Tom and his guest. Creating long-form video content, such as interviews, presents a unique challenge: keeping the audience engaged. To tackle this, we use multiple camera angles to add dynamics and energy to the video. For this project, we utilized three cameras, including one mounted on a slider. The primary camera was focused directly on Tom, ensuring a strong connection with the audience. The secondary camera captured a wider shot of both Tom and the Smartboard with the guest, helping the remote guest feel integrated into the conversation. Lastly, our slider camera added subtle motion, giving the video a more dynamic, cinematic feel, breaking up the monotony of static shots.

This use of multiple angles helps maintain viewer interest, especially in long-form content. It gives the final product a level of polish that goes beyond the standard interview setup, enhancing the overall production value.

Efficiency is a critical part of our process, especially when working with busy professionals like Tom. Because this shoot took place in our studio, we were able to complete the entire production quickly and efficiently, and Tom was in and out of the studio in just a couple of hours.

The process we have developed allows us to shoot several pieces of content in a single session. This batch-recording approach has proven incredibly valuable to Tom and OnConvergence. It minimizes the time commitment required while delivering a substantial ROI. The more content we can capture in one session, the more value Tom gets from each studio visit.

“Working with vLink Solutions is like adding a whole crew of video marketing experts directly to your team,” Tom said. “They bring big ideas, impressive strategies and fresh perspectives to the table that prove their value again and again — and the results from the content have far exceeded my expectations.”

Our relationship with OnConvergence goes beyond just video production. It’s built on a foundation of trust, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to delivering exceptional content. The partnership has allowed Tom to elevate his and his clients’ brands, consistently producing content that resonates with his audience.

With each project, we continue to refine our process to ensure the production is as simple, efficient, and impactful as possible. By providing seamless, high-quality production services, we enable clients like Tom to focus on what he does best—leading conversations, sharing insights, and driving thought leadership in his industry.

That’s why OnConvergence keeps coming back. Whether it’s a single interview or a series of videos and podcasts, we make the process effortless while delivering results that speak for themselves.
